Herbs in the garden

The Garden in April

May 07, 20241 min read

This Spring has definitely been one for the books. It was warm, it was cold, we had record heat in March, then severe thunderstorms. While we desperately need the rain, the wind that has come along with all of these fronts, I could do without. It seems like I am moving plants in from the wind more than I ever did from the cold.

However, after checking my garden this morning (I have a conglomeration of veggies, herbs, native plants) I am finding that my cool season plants and even my warm ones that I just put in (looking at you tomatoes!) are coming along nicely. The lemon grass that I put in half dead last year appears to be doing another comeback. I swear, this plant! Between the heat, the cold, the wind...this plant has made more returns than Cher! And, I am here for it!

The peas are still small. I don't know if they are going to make this year or not. I got them out when I should, but it was hot, so I tried again and while they are growing, I'm thinking that it may get too hot before they really start producing. Oh well, pea shoots are good in a salad. And there are so many more things to put into the garden this month.
